Chillin’ with our Gnomeys

We’re actually away for a couple of nights in Montreal, Quebec seeing U2 (yes, again) in this most European of North American cities. Last night we took our kids to see and hear the band whose music, I in particular, have subjected them to ever since they were born. Though getting to bed around midnight was a little rough on them they did seem to have great time. The band must love playing Montreal as well as it was the only venue on this second leg of their North American tour that included a 2nd night. I have to say that compared with the crowd responses in Boston and Denver, the other two places we’ve seen them play, well…there really was no comparison. There are fewer outings here with corporate clients and glad-handing and just more pure fans. The infield of the show last night, which was standing room only general admission, was packed cheek to jowl all the way back. In Denver and Foxboro the smaller infields there were perhaps only 2/3rds to 3/4s filled. It’s a heck of a place to see a show!

For that reason, amongst others, we’re heading off tonight with our friends Ryen and Ursula Munro to see show #2! Though the conversations between us all do inevitably drift into alpacadom — it’s what we all do after all — creating the sort of restaurant table sound bites that taken out of context would be wildly inappropriate in polite company, it is nonetheless really great to see those guys away from the context of an alpaca event. Though we’ve gotten away from the farm a fair bit recently (as previously noted), this is probably one of the few recent times those two have been off the farm together, sans kids, and not with alpacas quite literally in tow. We consider ourselves amongst the luckiest people in the world to be living the life we do but even if you live and breath what you do, it’s still nice to take a breather now and again. The alpacas will of course be waiting for us all at home tomorrow!
