Sisters that birth out together stay together?

Nutmeg and her newborn female cria yesterday afternoon

There are certain maternal lines within our breeding program that we really cannot get enough of. 5P Cangalli and her daughters Enchantress, Ascension, Requiem, and now littlest sister Sovereign Gemm fall into that category. Likewise for PP Jesusa, her wonder-kids Magdalena and Golden Sovereign, their sister Chalice and the various ensuing tasty offshoots (Moonlight, Johanna, Alexandra, La Vie en Rose). 4P Isabella and PPP Prestige and their daughters Isabeau, Isabella Rose, Marigot, and Pristine are also unquestionably backbone members of our light/white foundation herd.

One of our lesser known but no less important colored maternal lines here is that of SHRA Virtual’s Reality. Reality joined our herd 10 years ago when we brought her home from the 2001 National Show as a juvenile and newly crowned brown female color Champion. We had bought her earlier in the weekend at the AOBA auction because we (read: Jen) thought she had some potential and quite frankly as a substitution at  lot #1, the price was right. Little did we know that the show result the following day was really only to be the beginning. Though today Reality is still plugging along and due with another cria of her own later this summer, we also consider ourselves lucky to have her mature daughters, Nutmeg and Acomani here as well in our foundation herd. To make things even more fun the 3/4 siblings (Nutty was sired by LG, Acomani by his son Sovereign) have found themselves by complete chance almost synced in their due dates. While away in Montreal over the weekend we got a text from Kim letting us know that Acomani had had a fawn Precocious boy on Saturday morning. Not content to let her sibling have the limelight for long though, yesterday big sister Nutmeg birthed out a little fawn (maybe even LB) girl of her own, her third cria (one boy, now 2 girls) in a row out of Ring of Fire. Does any of this really mean anything in the big picture? I suppose not though having worked with that family line now for a decade (their brother Royal Mirage is in our stud barn as well) is still gives us a cheap little thrill each time we see a new member of that clan being born. The fact that Acomani and Nutmeg got to birth out back to back was really just a bonus!
