Solano’s turn…with a twist.

Not a whole lot going on here today in terms of action on the farm aside from a few breedings earlier in the day. We have a household of happy visitors in the forms of our old college friends and their kids as well as the younger of our two nieces seeking refuge from the summer heat while her parents take her older sister to dance in NJ. We’ll get both of the girls back here in August in any case for a week too which is always fun.

There was a bit of action the other day though while I was on the road home from Ohio. Requiem, our beige Archangel daughter and a member of the aforementioned 5P Cangalli clan delivered her first cria, a beige/light fawn little girl. What’s rather revelatory about the baby though is that she was also the first ever cria sired by Solano. Though we were of course thrilled by what we saw, had you told us last year that that match would likely produce a colored offspring with a dark colored palate we would have gently laughed you out of the room. Given that Solano comes from some pretty serious white lines (Snowmaster and El Nino/Caligula are at the roots), the idea of him throwing color is really just a bonus. Pictures to follow in the coming days…
