Some updates on roads in the area for National Alpaca Farm Days

Since I first posted directions to the farm in the immediate post-Irene/apocalypse-redux state that we were all in around here 2 weeks ago, the local road infrastructure has improved considerably. Yes, there are still parts of nearby major highways (106 between Downer’s Four Corners and Springfield, as well as Rt. 131 west of that same junction heading towards Ludlow) that look like they had a bunker-buster dropped on them — mainly because whole sections of the roads no longer exist — but the farm is again accessible from the Woodstock/Rutland area without having to take major detours or come all the way over to Interstate 91.

Our friend and colleague Debbie Bratton of Maple View Farm Alpacas (also participating in NAFD, by the way!) tipped us off to this site, which seems to have the most comprehensive and updated coverage of all of the road damage and closures including smaller town roads throughout the state. I have to say that the map looks a lot better than it did even just 10 days ago. A big hurrah for all of the road crews (many from out of state) who have been busting their tails trying to help Humpty Dumpty Vermont get back together again!

I just also posted some updated driving directions on our web site for getting here to CCNF this coming weekend. Did I mention we’ll have donuts? Come one, come all…
