CCNF Ladyhawke: Snowmass Incaaccoyo Star x CCNF Isabeau

We are proud to present the second of our two females that we are consigning to the 2013 Breeders Edge auction: CCNF Ladyhawke! Just like our other female at the upcoming sale, CCNF Andean Majesty, Ladyhawke has some serious genetic heavyweights in her pedigree.

Paternally she is the the daughter of our full Accoyo Herdsire, Snowmass Incaaccoyo Star (I-Star), himself the son of the famous Peruvian Snowmaster and 4P Orinoco, his dam who unfortunately passed away when I-Star was still just a cria at her side. When we look at Ladyhawke and think of her various paternal siblings over the years, we can only speculate that Orinoco must have been one very special alpaca. Certainly, her granddaughter does her legacy proud.

Of course if the paternal side of this lovely lady’s pedigree doesn’t get your attention, the maternal side really should. Her dam, Isabeau, is the daughter of Snowmass Peruvian Highlander (now deceased), a founding member of the North American Alpaca Stud and perhaps just as importantly — we would argue more importantly in fact — her dam was the legendary imported female, 4Peruvian Isabella, whom we were fortunate to have here as a member of the CCNF foundation herd in the latter years of her life. How much do we value the genetics of 4P Isabella? She also features prominently in the pedigrees of two of our most important Herdsires: Snowmass Matrix Majesty (2013 Futurity Herdsire of the Year) and Snowmass Conopa’s Kahuna (2011 and 2012 Futurity Champion Fawn Male), and that figured heavily in our decision over the last several years to bring both of those prepotent males into the fold here.

All of those genetics have combined to make a stunning young female that is at once dense and fine with excellent uniformity throughout her fleece. Of course *every* alpaca has something that can be improved upon. Since she was quite young, we had always pegged Ladyhawke as one of the up and coming show girls in our herd that would one day be compatible with our multiple Champion and Judges’ Choice winner, CCNF Elixir, when they were both of age. If history is any predictor, then breeding theses two phenomenal alpacas together should produce a breathtaking result. Elixir combines the elite density and uniformity of his sire Snowmass Elite Legend with the amazing fineness (and more importantly lingering fineness) of his maternal grandsire, the one and only CCNF Archangel. While it was a little touch and go

earlier on this summer as to whether or not Elixir would be successfully settling females soon enough to play an immediate part in Ladyhawke’s sale at the Breeders Edge, it seems you can’t keep a good man down! As of this writing she has just been confirmed pregnant via sonogram and will be due with her Elixir cria in mid June of 2014! In fact Ladyhawke will be the first female we have ever offered bred to our young world-class Champion! Like all of the bred females we sell here, she comes with a live birth guarantee and were she to slip or miscarry her pregnancy at any point we would breed her back to Elixir at no cost to her new owners.

We of course welcome any inquiries on Ladyhawke in the run up to the Breeders Edge so feel free to email or call if you have any questions (alpacas@cas-cad-nacfarm.com or 802-263-5740). For those who are interested in this special female but that might be unable to make it to the Breeders Edge in person, phone bidding is course available and we would be happy to help facilitate that as well. With less than 3 weeks to go until the sale itself, we are admittedly feeling a mix of nerves and excited anticipation but we are are definitely looking forward to presenting both of our special females at the Breeders Edge! We hope to see you there!
