2016 Parade of Champions, Lot #16: CCNF Leviathan

CCNF Leviathan (CCNF Capuchin x CCNF Elixir)
CCNF Leviathan (CCNF Capuchin x CCNF Elixir)

And then…there is this guy. CCNF Leviathan represents perhaps the most advanced animal we have ever offered for sale over our 19+ years of breeding alpacas. He is the amalgam of some pretty exciting genetic alchemy that really got cooking here some 13 years ago with the birth of his great grandfather, CCNF Archangel.

Sired by our beloved beige Champion Herdsire, CCNF Elixir (whom we co own with our friends at A Paca Fun Farm), and out of one of our top Snowmass Matrix Majesty daughters, CCNF Capuchin, Leviathan is everything we could have hoped for when we decided in 2014 to start crossing his sire with some of the best colored females in our breeding program. The question coming into last year’s birthing season though, was whether Elixir could sire the same elite quality fleeces for us across the color spectrum that he had already proven he could in our lights and whites? The answer was an unequivocal yes, and the just-completed spring show circuit really validated that beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Leviathan, along with his siblings, CCNF Dreadnought and CCNF Nikita (they are all maternal cousins too, having been born to Majesty daughters), set the northeast show circuit on fire this past April, winning a combined 10 banners in just 3 shows including 2 Judges’ Choice awards. That’s not even counting the additional 4 banners (including one JC at Mapaca) that their paternal sister, Delilah (who is the maternal sister of our POC lot #52, Adelia), won either, nor the colored trio (Leviathan, Dreadnought, and Delilah) that won the Get of Sire class for Elixir at the Jubilee show in Harrisburg.

I will now freely admit that those were some nervy times, having already consigned Leviathan to the Parade of Champions earlier this spring without knowing how he would ultimately fare at his first shows. In the end we could have no complaints though, and the nice thing is that Leviathan will now go on to his new owners with much of his marketing already done for him as well as with a very tantalizing future show career still in front of him as a yearling, if they so choose.

As people that have been doing this for almost 2 decades, we are so grateful to have had things line up with this spectacular future Herdsire as they did. Goodness knows, we’ve certainly been on the other end of that deal before too, and no doubt will be again. We also fully realize that all of his accolades notwithstanding, Leviathan may yet come home with us from the sale and frankly, given his undeniable quality, we are happy to play that however it comes. Regardless of what happens though, CCNF Leviathan represents years of alpaca breeding and all of the blood, sweat, and tears that we have happily poured into this endeavor we are so lucky to call our own. You can read the shorter, and far less drivel-filled version of his description at our Openherd pages here. Please feel free to call (802-263-5740) or email (info@ccnfalpacas.com) us here at the farm with any questions about Leviathan or either of his older female escorts at the POC, Antebellum (lot #4) and Adelia (lot #52). We hope to see many of you at the Parade of Champions in North Salem, NY on June 4th!
