Live from Las Vegas!

CCNF Solara at last fall's Empire Extravaganza.

Though we always miss the mountains of Vermont when we’re on the road, I can’t say that we’re missing the cold back home one iota! We heard that the temperatures topped off at -13 yesterday at CCNF, so even though it was only in the 50s when we landed here, it felt downright balmy by comparison.  After quickly settling into our hotel room at the South Point Hotel & Casino shortly after 1, we made our way to the impressive Arena facility here where the Priority auction is being held to check in on our three consignments: Tulip, Valencia, and Solara. They had by chance just been unloaded from their trailer shortly beforehand and all seemed none the worse for wear, which we were of course happy to see given that they had left our place well over a week ago. You just never know what can happen to a show/auction animal over the course of a long transport, just one of the reasons we alway welcome an early arrival when traveling a great distance, as that way there’s a chance to get critters cleaned up if need be. No need this time though! The crew that’s taking care of all of the auction animals here is doing a great job too and I don’t think I saw pellets on the ground for more than a moment or two yesterday. All in all we feel rather spoiled.

I did want to take the chance to reiterate for a final time before the lights go down tomorrow that our two open females, Valencia and Solara, come with a future breeding to any unrelated Herdsire that CCNF owns. That includes either of the two new guys, 2-time Futurity Champion Snowmass Conopa’s Kahuna or AOBA Champion Snowmass Sub-Zero or if you were ok with a moderate line-breed it could also in Valencia’s case even include CCNF Elixir (they are both grandchildren of Archangel) when he starts working later this year. In any case we are really proud to be here with these three females representing our breeding program and all indications are that it’s going to be a great sale!  For those that haven’t been able to make it to the Priority in person, the auction starts tomorrow at 5PM EST (2PM Las Vegas time) and there will also be a live simulcast of the sale online as well as phone bidding. You can read about all of those details here.

Lastly today, a big virtual Birthday hug to our friend and CCNF Herd Manager, Kimberly Duprey! Much of what we do and accomplish on the farm, including being able to do things like galavant off to Vegas in the middle of the winter with a clean conscience, is only possible because of the steady awesomeness of that young woman. Stay warm Kimmy, we hope you have a great day!
