CCNF Defiance = Love Machine

The decision, now over 2 years ago, to give up our partial interest in Snowmass Elite Legend, was not one we took lightly. To this day, EL remains one of the most prepotent Herdsires we’ve ever come across. Just as an individual, he was always a joy to work with too, a real gentle soul and always game for whatever we asked of him, even if that meant double-session breedings for 5 or 6 days in a row while summer temps hovered in the high 80s. Gone perhaps, but never forgotten.

All of that said, amongst the many reasons we felt comfortable sending EL back to his birth farm, was the presence of a core of high end daughters he had sired for us and of course, his two most prominent sons: Elixir and Defiance. While Elixir’s star rose quickly and has continued to burn brightly ever since (witness his showing at the just completed AOA National Fleece Show), his younger paternal brother would take some maturing before he could move onto that next phase of his life here at Cas-Cad-Nac.

Well, we are pleased to announce that as of a couple of weeks ago CCNF Defiance has produced his first confirmed pregnancy! How excited are we? That news meant a significant reshuffling of the breeding charts for the remainder of the summer and fall seasons. Amongst other females we have him scheduled to breed with, is none other than Ascension herself, the dam of both Elixir and his rock star half-brother, Centurion. Yeah, no pressure kid! In the mean time, Big D (who is the maternal son of our super-dam, Xanadu P. Cadenza) remains open for outside stud service and is a relative value at $3,000 when compared to his more famous older brother. Anyway, regardless of whether anyone else breeds to him or not, we are stoked to see what he can do here in our white herd! It should interesting…
