Rise of the Rookie Herdsires

We are pleased to announce that two of our young Herdsires, Champions MFI & KVR’s Mint Mo Money and his somewhat lesser known stablemate, CCNF Sucrose, have both achieved their first confirmed pregnancies within the past week! Turns out that the breeding frenzy that the boys of the CCNF Stud Barn were on in the week before we left for Norway has paid some dividends.

Mo, whom we co own with our good friends at Emelise Alpacas, was actually purchased on a bit of a lark at the final Breeder’s Choice auction at Magical Farms, after wowing us all with his fleece. Needless to say, that goes down as a purchase that has worked out very well so far! Though he did turn 2 last September, Mo needed a bit more seasoning before he was ready to do the job and it now seems that a little instructional league practice over the (not so) cold months of the winter did the trick. We’ve got big plans for the young fellow, so that first ultrasound picking up a pregnancy was admittedly a welcome relief!

Sucrose, for his part, represents the youngest of the Snowmass Elite Legend sons that we retained here after parting with our partial interest in his world-class sire several years back. A fixture of our show string over the past year and a half, he is also a member on his dam’s side (CCNF Sugar Drop) of one of the most potent maternal lines in our foundation herd. The owner of some of the best breeding mechanics yours truly has ever seen in a rookie Herdsire, Sucrose now proudly joins his older paternal brothers Elixir and Defiance in advancing the white/light side of our breeding program!
