We have just been through what has undoubtedly been one of the driest summers in recent memory. Easy evidence of this can be found in our pond here on the farm, which is down perhaps almost 4′ from its top level. Last summer by comparison that pond was overflowing well into July, if not August….
So after 55+/- births we are down to our final 10 due females of the 2010 birthing season. We still have a few late August girls (using 11 months as general guideline) that are holding out on us but births have otherwise been generally arriving on schedule, with the last stragglers due in early November….
