CCNF at the 2025 AOA National Fleece Show

Three Championships, two Reserve Championships, the Huacaya Female Spirit of the Industry Award, the Huacaya Male Judge’s Choice Award, the Huacaya Get-of-Sire, the Huacaya Produce of Dam, and our 13th consecutive AOA Heirloom Breeder’s Cup for Huacaya Fleece. It is a measure of this program’s success, and our view of where our breeding program has been and where it is potentially going, that here, late into our 28th year of doing this whole shindig, those results have come to be considered a tough day at the office. But you really can’t — nor shouldn’t — win them all anyway.

That said, we are also genuinely more than happy to tip our hats to those animals and programs that beat us in this past summer’s National Fleece Show. Special shout-outs to our colleagues at Autumn Mist Alpacas & Fiber Mill and Walnut Ridge Acres, whose CCNF Elixir son, AMAF Double Barrel, deservedly won the White Huacaya Male Championship and Huacaya Male Spirit of the Industry Award. Also to Nancy Chapel of Alpaca Country Estates, whose young Herdsire, CCNF Bellieveitornot, likewise walked away with a banner as RC Brown Huacaya Male!

As ever, if we had one wish, it would be to get beaten by alpacas that are meaningfully unrelated to our own, as that would signal a much healthier future for the North American domestic herd. That is, of course, another stand-alone post for another day. I will wrap this up with this simple thought and hope, though, that after decades of trial and error breeding these incredible animals, that all alpacas with amazing, advanced fleeces deserve to be bred with other great, unrelated (or even less related) alpacas with amazing, advanced fleeces. A man can dream, right? Our top results are below. See you all out there!
