CCNF Camden Gets His Way-Too-Early Herdsire Listing

CCNF Camden

Those of us who were raised in New England as fans of the Boston Red Sox pre-2004 will always carry a healthy pinch of superstition in our DNA. Back when yours truly was still a hormonal, wise-ass 15-year-old, my Dad had suggested that our family get a couple of season tickets at Fenway Park in support of the team. We started as ST holders the season after poor Bill Buckner had infamously let that ball through his legs in October of ’86. Suffice it to say that it was a long-term emotional (and actual) investment that took a while before it paid any dividends. Unlike our kids’ generation, who grew up feeling mostly that it was their birth-right to have their major sports teams win Championships and trophies every year or two, those of us who are middle-aged remain somewhat jinx-conscious (honorable mention here to Sox WS pitcher, Calvin Schiraldi, for his part in that too, btw).

So it is with a mild sense of trepidation that we have taken the unusual step of creating a listing — technically a Herdsire listing — for young CCNF Camden: he of the brief but undeniably gaudy and head-turning show record. Camden just barely turned one year old this past July, and though we obviously harbor great expectations for the young fella, it is almost unheard of for us to do such a thing so far ahead of what is hopefully an alpaca male’s first breeding season (here that is most often the summer of their 2nd birthday). We also don’t, at this juncture, know exactly what his status will be or whether we will even be offering him for outside stud service? What we do know is that we will begin trying to use Cam in-house next summer, with the expectation that, at minimum, he will begin to be a formal option for clients who purchase open and/or maiden females here that come with breedings. Stay tuned. For now, you can read a bit more about CCNF Camden by finding his listing on our Openherd pages here.
