Fire Starter’s X-ray

It took us a little bit but I finally figured out how to export Fire Starter’s digital X-ray as a jpg from the software it came with from our vet’s office. You are looking at a side view of the base of her neck and torso. Note the severe displacement of the vertebrae in the neck. No letters are needed after your name to recognize the abnormality of this picture.

Not having witnessed her injury ourselves, our educated guess is that she had her head and neck through one of the corral panels at the Arena and was then perhaps rammed from behind by one of her pen mates. Whatever happened it had to be both powerful and catch her in just the right (wrong?) way given the strength of the muscles that make up the neck. One would be hard pressed to replicate this trauma if you tried.

Not the way a neck should look!
