Thanks and Congratulations to Walnut Ridge Acres!

Many, many thanks to the Penica family of Walnut Ridge Alpacas for their recent purchase of CCNF Lunar Reign (CCNF Luna Majesty x CCNF Reignmaker)! How often have we offered to sell a daughter of Luna Majesty? Prior to electing to let Lunar Reign go, we had never sold one of Luna’s daughters and in fact, only her son, CCNF Lunar Quartet (who is now working in Germany), had ever left us. Was this thinking, A. slightly irrational, B. selfish and greedy, C. a touch paranoid, or D. a bit of all the above? Take your pick, I suppose, but the short version is that historically we haven’t really fancied the idea of getting our asses kicked on the show circuit by our own genetics. Next month begins our 27th year in the alpaca business though, so perhaps we are trying to moderate our hoarding ways? It’s all good.

CCNF Lunar Reign (CCNF Luna Majesty x CCNF Reign Maker)

Though Luna Majesty’s maternal line is nowadays redundantly backed up in our breeding program (Luna herself, her daughters Nymeria and Neytiri, and grandaughter, Val-Alpine), it has typically been a family that we have hoarded, and with very good reason. For if you recognize Luna Majesty’s name, it is likely because her two other adult sons, CCNF Sovereign-Legacy and CCNF Triumvirate (who are also Nymeria, Lunar Quartet, Neytiri’s full brothers), have been a bit of a presence these last several years.

It’s a special, powerful line of alpaca genetics and we are excited to see what Lunar Reign — currently breeding to CCNF Bataclan but with a future date reserved with his younger cousin, Camden, snagged just before he was formally closed — can do for Walnut Ridge Acres. Thanks to the Penicas for putting their trust in both us and our breeding program!
