Trailer packing 3.0

Ah, the final journey out of the spring show season. I guess we’ll see if I’m still quite as wistful about having missed last week’s Futurity haul by Sunday night, huh? This one is a short hop, skip, and a jump relatively speaking.  We’re just heading over to Syracuse which at 5 +/- hours of driving barely rates compared to the western trips we’ve made the last several years. Though the Northeast Alpaca Expo is now in its 3rd year (I think, maybe even its 4th?), it is out first time attending as in previous years it has always bumped up right against our shearing days. This took some gentle explaining the first year the show was held as the event is run by our good buddies Scott Young and Kevin O’Leary. Needless to say that when the calendar seemed to work in our favor this spring — we shear late next week — we felt as though it would be nice to support our friends. That and frankly we miss Melissa Young-Crozet glowering down at us from the dais. It’s been a whole month after all!

In the mean time there is the start of our kids’ two sports practice schedules around which we need to balance the final preparations for the show as well as get them packed up for a long weekend away at my Godparents’ house (signed, sealed, delivered: they’re yours). There is also the small matter of our elder son, Sam, having drawn the lead role in his 6th grade class’s production of Robin Hood . Thank goodness for Skype: there is a distinct chance that there will be some dialogue coaching happening from Syracuse this weekend fit in between the various other shenanigans we’ll have going on. Never a dull moment in the month of April!
