T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house…

…there was chaos. I will grant that the current holiday excess is nothing compared to what it used to be. It seems to be a law of modern American parenthood that the smaller the child, the more out-of-control their parents and (especially) their grandparents behave on December 25th. Particularly with regards to anything made of molded plastic.

Of course just as our kids are getting older and finally getting out of that mode, some of our friends have started having babies of their own so the cycle has started all over again. Which all griping aside, is really quite fun! Needless to say our mud room is awash in cardboard boxes yet again (some of the most played with “gifts” over the years were in fact the boxes themselves) along with dozens of those inflatable shipping bladders which have mostly replaced the bubble wrap of days gone by. Not nearly as fun to pop, what the heck is Amazon thinking?

In any case the boys just went to sleep so it’s time to go and create a little Santa-themed mischief. Merry Christmas everybody!
