A Father & Son Futurity HoTY Twosome!

“…you are what your record says you are.” – Coach Bill Parcells

We are tickled to announce that CCNF Elixir has been named the Futurity Herdsire of the Year (Light Colored Offspring) for the third year in a row! It’s been a nice little run, to put it mildly. We’re not sure where that puts him exactly vis-a-vis the historical record of the show but certainly those Herdsires that have won 3 or more HoTY awards from the Futurity are a fairly exclusive club. At minimum, it speaks to Elixir’s quality and consistency, and most importantly – his capacity to replicate it. We look forward to celebrating with the old man in person when he arrives back here at his birth farm in early July! We couldn’t have asked for more fun and supportive partners and friends to share him with than the Padgett family of A Paca Fun Farm, so an extra special thank you to them for helping the Vermont wing produce our annual three ring circus in KC yet again! I’m quite certain that if you had told Neil and Bari in the spring of 2012 that this was where this whole thing was headed when they first bought half of our previously unshown juvi beige male, they would have laughed you out of the room. It’s a funny little world we live in…

Speaking of Herdsires with 3 or more Futurity HoTY awards already to their names: Elixir’s all-world sire, Snowmass Elite Legend — whom we co own with the Deschners at Tierra Prometida Alpacas — was awarded the Reserve light Futurity Herdsire of the Year behind his kid! For the record this is EL’s 3rd time (2013, 2014, 2019) slumming with the Futurity Reserve HoTY to go along with his 5 Futurity Herdsire of the Year awards (2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016). Can you say longevity? Not too shabby for the actual old man: that’s going to be a mighty tough record to ever match or beat, quite frankly. Though we are using Elite Legend more sparingly these days given his already rather pronounced presence in our breeding program, when we do go to him — hello, CCNF Perceus — he has shown himself to be as potent as ever. Not a bad Herdsire to have…in reserve (sorry, low-hanging pun fruit). EL, like his now famous son, will likewise be returning to CCNF for the summer and early fall to get a little work in and escape the Texas heat. Though both Elixir and Elite Legend are closed for outside stud service, there are of course offspring and/or descendants of both available via both our private treaty sales listings and also our upcoming consignments to the 2019 Parade of Champions auction!
