CCNF Dominion Grows Into His Name

Judge Amanda VandenBosch, Lori & Chris Works of Kendall Creek Farms Alpacas, and CCNF Dominion at the 2020 Buckeye Alpaca Show.

So what do you name a little tank of a brown cria out of a legendary maternal line, that was born looking like he had a permanent scowl on, the equivalent of a massive case of alpaca-RBF? As it turned out, the son of Delilah and Matrix Majesty was anointed CCNF Dominion, not necessarily because of what he was at the time — we’re talking only 3 to 4 months of age when much can change developmentally for the better or for the worse in the months and years ahead — but because of what we were prognosticating he could become. Well it’s safe to say that now, as he works his way thru his 2nd year, those rosy projections are starting to bare fruit.

Not only did Dom achieve his first confirmed pregnancy last month, but with our partners and co owners at Kendall Creek Farms (that’s Chris and Lori Works in the pic above) showing both his fleece from last year and bravely hitting the halter show circuit again this fall, Dominion has now officially grown into his name. I wont belabor the point too much but this guy is legitimately special and we are psyched at the prospect of working him and his genetics into our breeding plans going forward. You can read his full write-up including a listing of his latest winnings here on our OpenHerd pages.
